Do you want to improve or learn English but you are still looking for a great destination with a perfect blend of tourist attractions, hidden gems, and food & wine culture?
No need to look any further. IH Cape Town is glad to welcome and host you in the magnificent Mother City at the southern tip of the African continent.
1. Lovely lifestyle
The Cape Town climate perfectly matches with a lovely outdoor lifestyle. Are you keen on hiking? Do not hesitate and discover the stunning mountain tops. Our school regularly organizes hikes to both Lion’s Head and Table Mountain.
Are you more into running? That is also a great way to keep in shape. Working out in the sun is so much more fun. A totally different lifestyle than many of you have in your home country. If you are just looking to relax, the beautiful beaches are perfect to soak up a nice tan. Also, our sunny IH terrace is the ideal spot to do your homework.
2. Wonderful winelands
South Africa exports the most wine as a non-European country and ranks under the best globally in terms of exporting wine. No wonder that a lot of world-class wines can be tasted and bought at a really cheap price. The school offers various wine tours to discover the different wine areas like Stellenbosch (the biggest and most famous), Franschhoek and Constantia (which is fairly close to the school and city center).
You can even combine the best of both worlds as teacher Heike organizes a wine tour on a regular basis combined with learning English vocabulary for wine tasting. Of course, you will also get some more insights into the history of the wine farms you are visiting. A must-do and good opportunity to improve your language skills.

3. Fantastic food

What pairs better with wines than cheese and chocolate? Indeed, delicious food is what works best with a crisp chenin blanc or a full-bodied Merlot. Cape Town offers world-class food at a relatively cheap price. If you like a beach club style restaurant with amazing seafood, the Bungalow in Clifton is your place to go to. Are you rather into sushi? Then Willoughby & Co in the V&A Waterfront or Beluga in De Waterkant are probably some of the best sushi restaurants in entire South Africa. You can also find really good restaurants for relatively cheap prices on Main Road in Sea Point. If you want a real African food and cultural experience then book a table at the Gold restaurant. You can participate in a traditional drum class and enjoy African music as well as colourful outfits. Furthermore, the food is absolutely fantastic which comes in small tapas sizes to share with friends. So you are not just learning English but also about the culture of South Africa.
All of these amazing restaurants are approved by our foodies called interns.

4. Tremendous tours
Speaking and learning English every day can be hard at times. That is why you need to make to most of your free time.

The school works with several tour operators offering all the best tours Cape Town and the Western Cape has to offer. Would you like to look for the Big Five at a game drive safari and doing a Garden Route tour? Or do you rather explore the quieter West Coast? All the tours are fantastic to explore more of South Africa.
5. Exciting English school at IH Cape Town
