Over 50s English Course

50+ English Language Course

These 2-week courses are designed for students over the age of 50 who prefer to study and socialise with people of their own age. The courses consist of 4 lessons per day of English classes, which take place from 09h00 to 12h40, Monday to Friday.

Classes are given in groups with an average of 6 students (maximum 10) and all levels are available, including complete beginners.(should the minimum number of students which is 4 not be attained for the course ih reserve the right to include the participants in our general classes)

The course also includes a varied programme of activities and excursions designed specifically for this age group, featuring evening visits to a typical South African restaurant, a full-day excursion to Cape Point, District Six Museum and Township tour.

A typical social programme for an Over-50s course may be as follows:

Week 1

Monday: Guided City tour (Company gardens, Slave museum, Bo-kaap)
Tuesday: Free Net languages introduction
Wednesday: Visit to the Heart Transplant Museum
Thursday: Free Net languages
Friday:  Evening visit to the Africa Cafe
Saturday: Guided Day trip to the Cape Point
Sunday: Free day

Week 2

Monday: Visit Table Mountain
Tuesday: Free Net languages
Wednesday: Volunteer Experience
Thursday: Evening visit to the Cinema
Friday:  Art Jamming
Saturday: Guided Winelands tour

50+ English Language Course

This course combines an English course for students Over 50 with a series of 4 short introductory workshops on painting ceramics, glass-fusing, pottery and sculpture. All materials are provided and students will be welcome to take home any work they produce.
