Gugulethu Wine Festival 2011

Gugulethu Wine Festival 2011 English Language Course

This is not just another wine festival … it’s so much more

Local entrepreneurs Mzoli Ngcawuzele – the man who lends his name to the legendary Mzoli’s Place – and Lungile Mbalo are hosting a wine festival on the roof of The Gugulethu Square Mall on 27th and 28th May 2011.

Nederburg have stepped in as main sponsors, with their talented winemaker Tariro Masayiti set to show off his knowledge in the form of a series of fun food and wine pairing sessions that will be open to all delegates at no additional charge.

Learn about wine and food pairing in the Nederburg Food & Wine Theatre experience, as
Tariro shares his passion that he found when he fell in love with wine after his first glass.

These sessions will be run on both evenings, with three scheduled for the first evening and four for the second. Tariro’s presentation will highlight the impact that the five basic flavours – sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami – can have on pairing wine successfully.

Presenting red, white and dessert wines in Nederburg’s exclusive theatre (custom-built for the festival), he will encourage visitors to try these with foods such as beef, tuna, cheddar cheese and chocolate.

The aim of the festival is to create a space where gugs people can dress to impress and taste fine wines, learn about wine and just have some fun!

Cape Town Tourism is getting behind the festival in a big way, adding it to their premier wine tour competition.

Mzoli’s place will host a restaurant area where people can grab a bite to eat in between tastings.

Price includes a free wine tasting glass, access to over 200 fine South African Wines, free entry into the Nederburg Food and Wine Theatre, a wine tasting guide and much much more!
