Rocking the Daisies
Now in its fifth year the ever popular Rocking the Daisies Festival will take place at the Cloof Wine Estate in Darling during October featuring the cream of SA talent, not to mention New Age Pony Club coming in from the UK with their Electro Punk flavour.
Once again there will be a multitude of stages or venues featuring all sorts of entertainment (five or six in total) and lots of other features. Enjoy wine tastings, a food village and this year even features a special ladies area (the Daisy Den) with hygienic, refreshing and private bathroom and shower facilities, giving ladies no excuse not to be at the festival this year.
All genres will be represented from rock and Punk to Electro genres like Hip Hop and Dance. The line-up is extremely diverse, see a full list at their website.
Tickets are available now through Webtickets and various stores and if you’re trying to save a little then rather buy from the listed stores because they are considerably cheaper! The other way to save on tickets is to ride your bicycle to the festival – you only pay half price as part of a greener festival initiative.

Hermanus Whale Festival
The Hermanus Whale Festival, the only Enviro-Arts festival in South Africa, is held annually to celebrate the return of the Southern Right whales to the waters of Walker Bay, the magnificent South African environment and the arrival of Spring. In 2009 the festival attracted 100 000 visitors.
The place to be is at the the Hemel & Aarde Village where you can rock to the sounds of Amor Vittone, Sterling EQ and Andre and Tiaan on Friday, 24th of September, 2010. On Saturday highlights include Karen K, Fredi Nest and Gift Gwe. On Sunday, the unstoppable Emo Adams will take to the stage at 21h00 – preceeded by Unison and Dillon Lerm.
Hermanus, known as the best land based whale watching destination in the world, plays host to thousands of visitors who flock to the seaside resort to exhilarate in the unique natural environment, watch whales, revel in music, comedy and African rhythms throughout the Festival.
The Whales ‘n Wheels Vintage Classic Car Show has gained momentum and an increased following, and the gleaming machines will be showcased at the Primary School grounds.
The whales are always the star performers at the Festival and will be joined on land by musicians, crafters, sports celebrities and thousands of people celebrating Spring in one of the most beautiful places on earth – Hermanus.
Whale watching and shark cage diving, bird watching and Fynbos hikes, baboons and kayak trips are just some of the adventures available so don’t miss this once a year spectacular.

Beer, food and Craft Festival
Brewers&Union and Jack Black Beer have teamed up with The Neighbourgoods Market in Woodstock to present South Africa’s first Craft Beer festival.
The event will see small, independently-owned breweries to unite under the banner of ‘Real Beer’.
Thursday, 23rd of September (the night before Heritage Day), will see a collection of the Real Beer producers, foodie enthusiasts and those that appreciate the art of craft brewing, joining together for an evening of indulgence.
Come along and show your support for South Africa’s ‘little guys’.
