Football mania has officially hit Cape Town. For those of you travelling to South Africa be sure to know that you will be in the middle of a South African way to celebrate an international event.
There will be five venues around Cape Town city (outside of the stadium) where football fans can enjoy the action and excitement of the World Cup live – on giant screen in a party atmosphere. Entrance is free to all fan parks and there will be food and beverages on sale. Each venue will have first aid facilities, disabled access, security, a grandstand, and information kiosks. If you are looking for some off the charts adventure, look no further! Abseiling off cliff-faces and waterfalls is safe, exhilarating and full of adrenalin pumping action. Cape Town offers various spots for this fun-filled sport such as down famous Table Mountain, scenic Chapmans Peak and thrilling Kamikaze Canyon. Abseiling is the controlled descent with a rope off a steep cliff or slope. You do not need any experience all you need is a bit of courage!

2010 is an exciting year for all of South Africa. Not only are we hosting the 2010 Football World Cup, but Cape Town is launching its very first Carnival, the Cape Town Carnival. From the 18th of March Cape Town will be alive with Music, Dance, Arts, Shows, Fashion and fun and not to forget all night parties.
In a true Cape Town style the inauguration of the Cape Town Carnival starts off with a big a bang. The inaugural Cape Town Carnival Weekend kicks-off with a One-Of-A-Kind Star-Studded Fashion Show bringing together the most influential South African designers paired with Celebrity Models – all on one runway! Come join us for THE launch of this amazing Cape Town style festival.

The 100 Day Countdown builds on the “Fly the flag” initiative, which brings together all who live in South Africa around the country’s national symbols and anthem, and expresses support for Bafana Bafana (South African National Football Team)
International House Cape Town has dedicated this entire week to “”Fly the Flag Day”. This means that all students have been coming to class in full colour, showcasing the colours of the South African Flag. We are hosting various events in connection with the 100 Day countdown to the FIFA Football World Cup including Quiz afternoons based on questions around South Africa, and other fun and games.
